What happened

Anthropic locked in a major Amazon deal in April 2026. The agreement layers a $5 billion fresh investment on top of a much larger compute commitment. Anthropic frames the headline number around capacity, with roughly 5 gigawatts of AWS compute over time. AP and TechCrunch report the total AWS commitment at up to $100 billion.

Why it matters

Combined with the Google deal of up to $40 billion, Anthropic now has long-term capacity from both AWS and Google Cloud. The dual cloud setup gives the company flexibility as model sizes keep growing. It also reinforces AWS as a key infrastructure partner for the Claude family.

MintedBrain take

For enterprise buyers, the message is that Claude is here to stay on both AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex AI. Claude is becoming easier to plan around in multi-cloud enterprise environments.
