Delete your account
This page explains how to request that your MintedBrain account and associated personal data are deleted. It applies to users of the MintedBrain website and the MintedBrain app listed on Google Play, which share the same sign-in and account.
How to request account deletion
Choose one of the following. You do not need to use both.
Option A — In the MintedBrain app or website (fastest)
- Open MintedBrain in your browser or in the MintedBrain app.
- Sign in with the account you want to delete.
- Go to Account (on the web: open your profile menu, then Account).
- Scroll to Delete account and follow the prompts.
- Type DELETE when asked to confirm, then confirm permanent deletion.
Option B — Email request
- Send an email from the address associated with your MintedBrain account to hello@mintedbrain.com.
- Use the subject line Account deletion request and include your display name (if any) so we can verify ownership.
- We will process verified requests within the timeframes described below and in our Privacy Policy.
What we delete or remove
When your deletion request is completed, we remove or anonymize the following types of data tied to you:
- Account identity — email address and display name are removed from active account records (replaced with anonymized placeholders so the account cannot be used to identify you).
- Authentication — your Firebase sign-in is deleted; you will not be able to sign in again with that account.
- Communications and verification — newsletter subscription for that email (if applicable), password-reset tokens, email verification tokens, and related signup records tied to your email.
- Session — you are signed out; session cookies no longer grant access.
Learning progress, bookmarks, certificates, ratings, and other content you created while signed in are handled as part of closing your account: we remove or anonymize associated personal data in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
What we may keep (and why)
- Legal and security — minimal records we are required or permitted to keep to comply with law, resolve disputes, or protect our service (for example, fraud prevention or enforcing our terms).
- Aggregated analytics — statistics that do not identify you personally.
- Backups — data may persist in encrypted backups until those backups roll off on a normal schedule (typically a limited period).
Retention period after you request deletion
We complete deletion or anonymization of personal data within a reasonable period, typically within 30 days of a verified request, unless a longer period is required by law or necessary to resolve an ongoing obligation. See Section 8 (Data Retention) of our Privacy Policy for more detail.
