OpenAI Raises $110 Billion at $730 Billion Valuation

OpenAI has closed a $110 billion funding round, the largest private tech financing in history, according to CNBC, TechCrunch, and Bloomberg. The round was announced February 27, 2026.

Investors and Amounts

  • Amazon: $50 billion
  • Nvidia: $30 billion
  • SoftBank: $30 billion

The investment gives OpenAI a $730 billion pre-money valuation and an $840 billion post-money valuation, up sharply from the $500 billion valuation set in a secondary financing in October 2025.

Strategic Partnerships

Alongside its investment, Amazon announced a multiyear strategic partnership with OpenAI. The two companies will develop customized models to power Amazon's customer-facing applications. OpenAI also expanded its collaboration with Nvidia, securing 3 gigawatts of dedicated inference capacity and 2 gigawatts of training capacity on Nvidia's upcoming Vera Rubin systems.

Significance

The round eclipses OpenAI's own previous record of $40 billion set in a SoftBank-led round in 2025. It reflects sustained investor confidence in AI infrastructure spending even as the industry shifts focus from capability benchmarks to real-world deployment.
