Build Your First Zapier Automation in 15 Minutes
Zapier connects apps without code. This tutorial walks through a simple automation.
Pick a trigger and action
Example: "When someone submits a Google Form, add a row to a Google Sheet and send a confirmation email."
Step 1: Create a Zap
Go to zapier.com, click Create Zap. Choose your trigger app (e.g. Google Forms) and connect your account. Select the form and the trigger event ("New Form Response").
Step 2: Add an action
Click + and add Google Sheets. Choose "Create Spreadsheet Row." Map form fields to sheet columns. Test the step.
Step 3: Add another action (optional)
Add Gmail or another email app. Choose "Send Email." Use form data in the subject and body (e.g. "Thanks, {{First Name}}").
Step 4: Turn it on
Review the Zap, name it, and turn it on. New form submissions will now trigger the automation.
Next steps
- Add filters (e.g. only run if a certain field has a value).
- Add more steps (e.g. notify in Slack).
- Use Zapier's AI to describe what you want and get suggested Zaps.
