Get Action Items from Meetings with Otter.ai
Otter.ai transcribes meetings and can extract action items. Here's how to use it effectively.
Setup
- Install the Otter app or browser extension.
- Connect your calendar so Otter can auto-join Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams.
- Or start a recording manually for in-person or phone calls.
During the meeting
Otter records and transcribes in real time. You can add live comments or highlight sections. Speak clearly and use names when assigning tasks ("Sarah, can you send the report by Friday?") so action items are easier to extract.
After the meeting
- Open the transcript and use Otter's summary view for key points and action items.
- Copy the action items into your task manager (Notion, Asana, etc.).
- Share the transcript link with attendees if they need a reference.
