Wayve Raises $1.2 Billion for Robotaxi Launch in London
Wayve, the UK-based autonomous driving startup, announced a $1.2 billion Series D funding round on February 24, 2026, bringing its post-money valuation to $8.6 billion. Total available capital could reach $1.5 billion if partner-triggered milestones are met.
Investor Lineup
The round was led by Eclipse, Balderton, and SoftBank Vision Fund 2, with participation from:
- Nvidia
- Uber
- Microsoft
- Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Stellantis
- Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Baillie Gifford, British Business Bank, Schroders Capital
Robotaxi Plans
Uber has committed an additional $300 million tranche, contingent on Wayve reaching certain operational milestones. The companies plan to launch self-driving taxi trials in London in 2026, with broader international rollout to follow. Wayve aims to scale to more than 10 markets globally on the Uber network.
Wayve's approach is built on end-to-end AI driving, training a single neural network on video input rather than relying on hand-coded rules or high-definition maps. The company plans to deploy supervised autonomy software in consumer vehicles from 2027.
