What happened
Dawnguard, a Dutch cybersecurity startup, launched its security architecture automation platform to general availability on July 1. The platform gives engineering and security teams a shared workspace to design and validate architecture, and to generate infrastructure code for secure cloud systems before deployment.
The launch came with an additional $3.3 million pre-seed round, bringing total funding above $6.3 million from BNVT Capital, Curiosity VC and eCAPITAL. The company, founded in 2025 by CEO Mahdi Abdulrazak and CTO Kim van Lavieren, also opened a New York City office to serve North American demand.
Why it matters
Most security tooling reviews systems after they are built. Validating architecture designs before deployment shifts the work earlier, where fixes are cheaper.
Generating infrastructure code from validated designs also narrows the gap between a secure plan and what actually ships.
MintedBrain take
Design-time validation is a sensible place to catch security gaps, but generated infrastructure code still needs human review before it reaches production. Use it to accelerate the first draft, not to replace the sign-off.
